Summer Calm

A Week Long Immersive Experience Blending Physical Challenges with Intellectual Growth.

CRPS Summer CALM Program offers an extraordinary opportunity for students in Grades 9 to 12 to complete their Career and Life Management (CALM) requirements while engaging in outdoor adventures. Held at the Outdoor Learning Centre, the program combines Alberta Education’s CALM curriculum with hands-on experiences in one of Alberta’s most stunning natural environments.

Over the course of five days and four nights, students participate in immersive activities such as meal planning, flatwater canoe training, hiking, horseback riding, climbing, and journaling. The program emphasizes skill development in teamwork, financial literacy, decision-making, and resource management, blending physical challenges with intellectual growth.

With a newly renovated facility, expanded equipment—including a 41-foot Montreal voyageur canoe—and a 10:1 student-to-staff ratio, the program ensures a dynamic and supportive learning environment. Students can earn 10 academic credits, including CALM 20, Life Skills 15, Nutrition & Wellness, and more, while completing online coursework in financial literacy and workplace safety.

Led by certified instructors and experienced CRPS staff, the Summer CALM program provides a safe, enriching atmosphere where students can step out of their comfort zones, build confidence, and forge lifelong memories.
