Kick-off the New School Year with CRPS Schools in Style!

Over the month of September and into the fall, CRPS' schools have a variety of activities plan to welcome students and their families back-to-school. Further information on these events will be released by schools in the fall.

Alpenglow School

Alpenglow School's Annual Rose Ceremony

Alpenglow School warmly invites parents and families to attend its cherished Rose Ceremony on Aug. 26, 2024, from 8:15 to 9:00 a.m. This heartwarming tradition sees Grade 6 students welcoming Grade 1 and new students by presenting them with a rose. This touching event, which takes place in Alpenglow's backfield, symbolizes new beginnings and fosters a sense of community and support among students and their families. Families are most welcome to join in this celebration of growth and connection.

Alpenglow Community Education Society Hosts Family Tea

On Sept. 3, from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m., Alpenglow Community Education Society (ACES) will hold a family tea. This event provides an opportunity for existing Alpenglow families to reconnect and welcome new families into the community. Attendees can meet ACES representatives and other families on the deck immediately after student drop-off. Come one, come all!

Discover Alpenglow: A Night of Exploration

Step into your child’s world at Alpenglow School's Open House on Sept. 12, 2024, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Parents and guardians will embark on a guided tour led by their own children, offering a unique glimpse into their daily classroom experiences. This evening promises an interactive adventure, as students proudly introduce their teachers and showcase their learning spaces. Don’t miss this chance to connect with the Alpenglow community and see firsthand the vibrant environment where education and discovery thrive.

 

Banff Community High School

Welcoming Back Students with Exciting Orientation Day

On Aug. 26, 2024, Banff Community High School ill kick off the new school year with a vibrant Orientation Day. Students, families, and staff will gather in the school gym for grade-specific sessions where students will meet their core subject teachers, receive their timetables, and set up their lockers. The schedule is as follows: Grade 9 classes will meet from 9 - 10:15 a.m., Grade 10 from 10:30 - 11:45 a.m., Grade 11 from 12:45 - 1:45 p.m., and Grade 12 from 2 - 3 p.m. On Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, regular classes will commence, starting with a Welcome Back Assembly. This event will also mark the beginning of the school year for international students. Join the community in celebrating the return to school and setting a positive tone for the year.

BCHS Annual Hike Day in Banff National Park

Banff Community High School is gearing up for its annual Hike Day on Sept. 10, 2024, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This cherished tradition unites students, families, and the community for a day of exploration in the stunning Banff National Park. Participants will traverse scenic trails such as Larch Valley, Healy Pass, and Plain of Six Glaciers. This event offers a unique opportunity for students to bond with new classmates, engage with students from other grades, and interact with staff members. Parent volunteers are essential for the event's success; interested individuals can reach out to Principal Natasha Miles. Banff Elementary School

Banff Elementary Open House

Banff Elementary School (BES) is set to welcome families on Sept. 12 from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. for an engaging Open House. This event provides a unique opportunity for parents to tour the school, connect with teachers, and build community with fellow parents. Right From the Start will enhance the experience with a 'Take Five' offering light snacks and refreshments for all attendees. This is a perfect chance to explore the vibrant learning environment at BES and see firsthand how the school fosters student growth and community involvement.

 

Canmore Collegiate High School

Opening Day at Canmore Collegiate High School

Canmore Collegiate High School welcomes students and families on Aug. 26 for the first day of school. Each grade is assigned an hour for essential activities, including school photos, locker moves, club sign-ups, password retrieval, reconnecting with friends, and meeting teachers. Details will be sent via email shortly before school starts. The school will be buzzing with excitement as everyone prepares for the new school year. On August 27, regular classes commence, marking the start of an exciting journey in education and growth.  Let the adventure begin!

Engage and Prepare: Parent Information Night at CCHS

Mark your calendars for Sept. 5, 2024! Canmore Collegiate High School is hosting a Parent Information Night from 5 - 7 p.m. in the CCHS Theatre. Separate sessions are being planned for Grade 12 students and families, new student families (all grades), and Grade 9 families. This event is an excellent opportunity to engage with the school community, gather essential information, and prepare for the upcoming school year. Exact times for each meeting will be confirmed in August. Don’t miss this chance to connect and ensure a successful start to the year.

 

Elizabeth Rummel School

Engaging New Families at ERS School Council Meeting

Elizabeth Rummel School (ERS) will host its September School Council Meeting on Sept. 10, 2024, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., welcoming new families to discover the latest happenings at the school. Welcome Back BBQ at Exshaw School

Exshaw School invites all staff and families to a Welcome Back BBQ on Sept. 12, 2024, from 5 - 7 p.m. This event is a prime opportunity for families to meet their child’s teachers and gather essential information for the upcoming school year. Attendees can learn about the School Council, the school calendar, and effective communication methods with teachers and the school. The event also provides guidance on where to find important information. Join the Exshaw School community in the gymnasium to share a burger and start the school year off right. Run for a Cure: Exshaw School’s Terry Fox Run

Students, staff and families are invited to participate in Exshaw School's Annual Terry Fox Run on Sept. 20, 2024, at 10:45 a.m. The event begins in the gym and follows a scenic route around the creek. Participants are encouraged to bring a "Toonie for Terry" and run in honour of someone special affected by cancer. This meaningful event not only raises funds for cancer research but also fosters a sense of community and support. Join Exshaw School in this heartfelt tribute and help make a difference in the fight against cancer.

 

Lawrence Grassi Middle School

Lawrence Grassi Middle School Open House

Lawrence Grassi Middle School is opening its doors to families and students on Sept. 12, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. This event provides parents and families with a chance to meet the dedicated staff, explore the school through a self-guided tour, and gain insight into the school's commitment to fostering a supportive and enriching educational experience.The Open House is an excellent opportunity for the community to engage with the school's vibrant environment and learn more about the exciting programs and activities available. 

First School Council Meeting for 2024/25 School Year

Immediately following its Open House on Sept. 12, 2024, Lawrence Grassi Middle School will host its first School Council Meeting for the 2024/25 school year from 7 to 8:30 p.m. This is an excellent opportunity for parents to engage in the school community, represent their views, and support the school’s initiatives. Participation in the council empowers parents to contribute to decision-making processes and enhance the educational environment. The meeting aims to foster stronger relationships between parents and the school, ensuring that every student’s needs are met.
