Canadian Rockies Public Schools

Honouring Remembrance Day Across CRPS Schools

CRPS schools will observe Remembrance Day on Nov. 7 with solemn assemblies across the division, giving students and staff an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made by veterans and current service members. Alpenglow School and Lawrence Grassi Middle School will begin their observances at 9 a.m., followed by Banff Elementary School at 9:30 a.m. and Elizabeth Rummel Schools at 10:40 a.m. Canmore Collegiate and Banff Community High Schools will hold their assemblies at 11 a.m. Exshaw School will close the day’s observances with a 2 p.m. assembly. Each school has curated unique, meaningful ceremonies for students, staff, and parents to engage in the significance of Remembrance Day, honouring local and national service members. These assemblies serve as a powerful reminder for CRPS’ learning communities of the courage, resilience, and dedication that continue to inspire a collective commitment to peace and understanding.

 

Banff Community High School (BCHS)

Pathways to the Future: Educational Liaison Association of Alberta Fair at BCHS

Bow Valley families can explore Alberta’s diverse post-secondary options at the Educational Liaison Association of Alberta (ELAA) Post-Secondary Fair. Hosted first at Banff Community High School on Nov. 25, from 9 to 11 a.m., and later at Canmore Collegiate High School from 1 to 2:30 p.m., the fair brings recruiters from Alberta universities, colleges, polytechnic institutions, and other training programs. Students and their families will have the chance to ask about academic programs, admission requirements, and career possibilities, making it a valuable resource for planning their educational journeys. Celebrating the Season’s Standout Athletes

Banff Community High School will recognize student-athletes' accomplishments at its Athletic Awards Assembly on Nov. 27 at 11 a.m. Families and students will gather in the gym to honour achievements in volleyball, golf, and cross-country running. Attendees are asked to check in at the office before joining the celebration of dedication and sportsmanship that has defined the fall season. Banff Elementary School

A Taste of Community at Banff Elementary

Families at Banff Elementary School are in for a treat when the HI Banff Alpine Centre hosts a free family lunch at the school to build connections and foster community spirit. Taking place on Nov. 19, from 12:05 to 12:25 p.m., this event also marks the start of the “Give What You Can, If You Can” fundraising campaign. Funds raised will go toward creating holiday baskets filled with games, hygiene products, and grocery cards for families in need. For more details, contact Jason Billings.

 

Exshaw School 

Breaking Bread and Building Futures

Exshaw School is opening its doors and kitchen for a special Parent/Teacher/Student Conference evening on Nov. 7, from 5-8 p.m. Upon arrival, families are welcomed to a pulled pork dinner, lovingly prepared by the school’s dedicated Snacketeria team. This cherished annual tradition brings the school community together to celebrate student achievements and discuss learning goals. The gathering offers a unique opportunity for parents, teachers, and students to connect in a warm, supportive environment, fostering stronger ties and collaboration for the academic year ahead. Lawrence Grassi Middle School

Eagles Champion Mental Health at LGMS

The Canmore Eagles Junior hockey team is stepping off the ice and into the classroom at Lawrence Grassi Middle School (LGMS) every Wednesday during Period 6. Through open discussions on mental health, players share personal experiences and coping strategies with students, aiming to break down stigmas and foster resilience. This unique partnership brings real-life heroes into students’ lives, highlighting the importance of mental well-being and community support.
