The Brief - Highlights of the Board of Trustees' Sept. 24, 2024, Meeting

The Canadian Rockies Public Schools (CRPS) Board of Trustees held its organizational meeting on Sept. 24, 2024. Brian Callaghan was elected Board Chair, and Arlene Rheaume assumed the role of Vice Chair.

Opening the first board meeting of the 2024/25 school year, Trustees reaffirmed their advocacy priorities for the year, emphasizing Transformational Learning, Continuity of Learning, and Strategic Well-Being Investments. These priorities are aimed at fostering sustainable and innovative education within the Bow Valley.

A key highlight from the meeting was the announcement of a $1,003,000 donation from the Wim and Nancy Pauw Foundation. This generous contribution will support various student experiences, including athletics, outdoor education, and mental health services. Notably, the funding will help reduce athletic fees and expand outdoor learning initiatives.

Additionally, Occupational Therapist Megan Taylor and Speech-Language Pathologist Gillian Kastendieck also presented how their work supports student success through targeted interventions.

The next Board meeting is scheduled for Oct. 22, 2024. Read all about it in the Sept. 24, 2024, edition of "The Brief."
