Healthy School Certification
Fostering a Culture of Health and Well-Being
At Canadian Rockies Public Schools (CRPS), we believe that student wellness is fundamental to creating an environment where students thrive academically, emotionally, and socially. That’s why we are excited to launch our journey toward Ever Active School’s Healthy School Certification - a year-long initiative that aligns with our commitment to fostering a culture of health and well-being across all our schools.
The Healthy School Certification, developed by the Canadian Healthy Schools Alliance, is designed to enhance wellness in school communities by encouraging students to take an active role in leading wellness initiatives. Through this certification process, students will not only improve their schools’ physical and mental health environments, but they’ll also gain valuable leadership skills, including problem-solving, communication, and teamwork.
Certification Process Overview
Schools across the division are working to achieve certification at one of three levels - Gold, Silver, or Bronze - by completing wellness activities that contribute to the overall health and well-being of their school community. Points are earned by implementing a variety of initiatives, such as organizing workshops on mental health, promoting physical activity, or creating health-related educational content. As the year progresses, we will be tracking each school’s progress and celebrating their achievements.
Empowering Student Leadership
The heart of the initiative lies in student involvement. Students, guided by their school’s wellness champions, will assess the needs of their school communities, identify key priorities, and develop action plans to address areas such as mental health, physical wellness, healthy eating, and more. This hands-on experience allows students to become changemakers, ensuring they are directly involved in improving the health and wellness of their peers.
We invite you to return to this site to learn more about each school’s wellness initiatives, stay updated on their progress toward healthier school communities.
